Great Barr School in Birmingham has teamed up with Andrews Water Heaters and Potterton Commercial to develop a new and dynamic Business and Enterprise Centre for the school. Great Barr is one of the largest schools in the UK with over 2,400 students and the newly created Centre will be available for use by all students in the school and also businesses locally who may require an off site venue.
The refurbishment of existing rooms to create the Enterprise Centre has involved significant investment by the school with individual classrooms being sponsored and branded by nationally recognised companies such as Andrews Water Heaters and Potterton Commercial. The branding of the rooms will bring the world of work directly into the classroom, aiming to develop students' enterprise skills in readiness for their future entry into the world of work.
Stephen Shipton, Great Barr School Work Related Learning Manager said, "The support we have received from Baxi Commercial Division has been fantastic. We are keen to form partnerships with local and national companies like this which have based their business on quality and great customer service. This has made it easier to attract other classroom sponsors to the Business and Enterprise Centre."
The first phase of the centre opened in January 2009 with phase two due to open in May 2009 when the Centre will be fully operational.
